The Story Behind the Sword

George Washington owned 9 swords in his revolutionary time which gives a popular indication of being a soldier, alpha, and a leader. These swords are couple to ancient times but still have a rich significance among people’s heart and history.

The Washington Sword in Green version known as The Bailey Silver & Ivory-Hilted Cuttoe is a well known celebrated sword during the American Revolution. This sword is used for hunting and fascinates many people to use Cuttoe Sword in the wars. John Bailey’s aesthetic sword appears in royal silver and green bladed color and is hand forged to adore the history of American wars.

Historical Narrative

It’s a product of a cutler who was British-born, prepared in Sheffield, came to America, and settled in New York probably around the late 1760s or 1770. He took his operation into the Hudson Valley into the area where the Continental Army was retreating and he set up shop to cater to Continental Army officers. He ordered this sword in the early 1779 and Washington also helped him in some sword maintenance affairs and issues that came up during the Revolutionary War and even small businesses like hafting table knives, and blades and even replacing a lost penknife.

In Charles Willson Peale’s 1779 canvas, where Washington is depicted in front of a scene at the Battle of Princeton, we see Washington wearing this sword and he immediately portrayed him wearing this sword which repercussed as the indelible linkage of the sword with Washington and its probably because of his appearance in this painting that it acquired the title of Washington’s Battle Sword. Look how amazing the history is and making me mad to purchase all of the versions.

It’s special because this is the first sword that left the Washington family  In 1843, Samuel Washington, the younger, had the sword presented to the American people through Congress.
