The Ottoman Shamshir is a curved Persian sword from the 18th century, known for its sleek design and impressive cutting power. The fittings are made of brass and the hilt is made of wood. It comes with a beautifully made wooden scabbard wrapped in brown or black leather with a touch of red. The scabbard is slender, which nicely fits the blade’s shape. It has a deep cut for smooth drawing and sheathing. When sheathed, the sword sits tight in its scabbard.

About Ottoman Shamshir Persian Sword

We present to you a reproduction of an Ottoman Shamshir Persian word from the 18th century. A massive, 26″ blade with a balanced light weight of around 700 grams is perfect for cavalry to deliver enough force on each slash to go through any unarmoured enemy.

The blade is made of high carbon steel and the hilt of wood with brass fittings and the scabbard is made of wood and leather.

Measured from the tip to the end of the hilt in a straight line the sword is 89 cm long. The part of the hilt that can be gripped is 8.5 cm long and with its 2.5 cm thickness very slender. Only weighing 700 grams without the scabbard it is relatively light for this type of sword. The blade has an excellent distal taper. These features make it fantastic to wield, very nimble, very quick and agile.

Customers very much like its simplistic and functional look. It dispenses with unnecessary embellishments and the likes, which has a beauty in itself. Also really like the matte finish of the blade and how it reflects the light in warmish colors.
